Docker: List Containers – All, Running, Stopped

By default, the docker ps command shows only running Docker containers.

With the specific options it is possible to list all Docker containers or filter output by the stopped containers only.

List Running Docker Containers

To show only running Docker containers, execute the following command:

$ docker ps

List Stopped Docker Containers

To show only stopped Docker containers, run:

$ docker ps --filter "status=exited"

– or –

$ docker ps -f "status=exited"

List All Docker Containers

To show all Docker containers, run:

$ docker ps -a

– or –

$ docker ps --all
